A few minutes after arriving to our nice hostel situated close to the city center, we aimed to go straight to the city to learn more about its history, sights and culture. Our guide has become eccentric Sarajevo's Muslim communist Zijad.
We met with him exactly on the spot where on 28 of June 1914 Serbian student, a member of the Black Hand organization, Gavrillo Princip assassinated successor to the Austro-Hungarian throne Franz Ferdinand d'Este and his wife Žofia, which is considered as one of the historical events that led to the beginning of World War II. Really strange feel to stand there.

From Zijad we learned about an important man of Sarajevo, Gazi Husrev-beg. Gazi is widely considered Sarajevo's greatest patron, as he financed much of Sarajevo's old city at this time. There is also the mosque with interesting clock in the city center named after him. Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque was the first mosque in the world to receive electricity and electric illumination in 1898 during the period of Austro-Hungarian Empire. Gazi is Bosnian biggest donor and national hero.

From a distance we saw the two castles, towering over the city and many other historic buildings. However, we wondered how it is with the current unrest in Sarajevo, and if we can feel safe there, so we asked our guide. Zijad assured us that people from Sarajevo know who is the blame for their bad living situation and they want punish only them. He confirmed that visitors of Sarajevo should feel safe here without any doubts.
Walking through the streets of Sarajevo everyone can notice strange red spots of various sizes on the walls of buildings or on the road. For someone may seem nice, but those are bitter memories of the past. They are called Sarajevo´s roses. Those „roses“ are holes after grenades which were drenched with red mass.

After the city tour full of exploring and explaining we stopped in and tasted traditional bosnian meal čevapi. Bosnian cousine is really tasty and we really enjoyed not only the dinner, but also the whole experience from our city tour.
